Streamlining EFT/ACH Transactions with Real-Time Validation
Published 11/7/24
InvoiceCloud works hand in hand with Certegy Payment Solutions. Certegy is an ACH validation tool that checks and confirms the validity of bank account details before they’re sent over to the payment processor. Think of it as a gatekeeper that ensures the bank information is correct before the payment process begins.
In essence, Certegy screens Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or Automated Clearing House (ACH) payment methods in real time. It warns InvoiceCloud if there’s a high chance of a transaction failing. This information comes directly from financial institutions, not from InvoiceCloud or you, the biller. By doing this, Certegy helps prevent transactions that might result in EFT/ACH Rejects. It’s important to note that Certegy is used only for EFT/ACH transactions, not for debit or credit card transactions.
Now, you might be wondering why a payment would be denied.
Certegy maintains a list of bank account and routing numbers that have been flagged in the past due to various reasons. These could include wrong account details, past instances of insufficient funds, closed bank accounts, or suspected fraudulent activities. If Certegy flags either your payer’s bank routing number or account number, the payer may see an error message. This simply means there’s something about their bank details that needs to be addressed before the transaction can proceed.
