Strengthen your Email Marketing

Published 3/7/24

Email marketing is an excellent tool for sharing important information and building a strong relationship with your customers, but it’s only as good as the number of customer email addresses you have on file. To help strengthen your customer communications, dedicate a small portion of your communications routine to building your email database. Here are our recommendations:

  • Offer something valuable: Obtaining more customer email addresses will be easier and more successful if you offer customers something valuable in return for their email signup. Consider sending a monthly digital newsletter or letting customers know that important updates about your service will be sent via email.
  • Add an email signup to your website: Include an email signup form on your website’s homepage with a simple call-to-action (Ex: “Enter your email address to receive important updates via email,” or “Sign up for our monthly newsletter.”)
  • Leverage your customer service representatives: Have your customer service representatives ask for email addresses during their day-to-day interactions with customers (both on the phone and in-person). One great way to do this is to offer to send an emailed invoice to customers looking to make a payment. You can find a step-by-step guide for this process in the Marketing Resource Center.
  • Hold a sweepstakes: Collect customer email addresses in-office or at community events (farmers markets, block parties, fairs, etc.) and enter all participants into a sweepstakes. Pick a winner (or several winners) to win a small prize.
  • Promote online payments: When your customers register for online payments, InvoiceCloud keeps a record of their email addresses. In addition to all the benefits online payments offer you and your customers, it can also help build your email database! Consider handing out QR code payment reminder magnets or providing “How to Register for Online Payments” guides to give in-person payers an easy way to register for online payments.
