Celebrating Global Accessibility Awareness Day

Global Accessibility Awareness Day

Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)! Every year, GAAD aims to raise awareness about digital access and inclusion by highlighting the transformative power of accessible technology.

The goal, as the organization summarizes on their website, is to “get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access and inclusion, and the more than One Billion people with disabilities/impairments.”

This is constantly on our minds here at InvoiceCloud. In our increasingly digital world, it’s easy to take the daily conveniences of modern technology for granted – like jumping online to quickly pay a bill.

That’s why we’re on a mission to make digital payments accessible for everyone.

The Importance of Digital Payments for Everyone

InvoiceCloud was founded on the belief that every time someone says, “it shouldn’t be this hard,” they’re right. Our objective is to be the solution that expands financial inclusion to include historically non-adopting payers — those who are hesitant, resistant, or unable to participate fully in the digital financial ecosystem.

By working towards bridging the access and usability gap, InvoiceCloud is focused on helping all payers take advantage of the conveniences of easy digital payments. That means everyone should be able to easily access their preferred way to pay.

Want to make a payment on the go? Go for it. How about enrolling in AutoPay for extra peace of mind? Set it and forget it.

Billers can also benefit by increasing on-time payments from customers that historically pay late or even go delinquent. Take someone who prefers to write checks for their bills – not only are these physical payments at risk of mail theft or fraud, but they’ll likely take longer to be received and processed. By opening the digital door to more people, billers can move ever closer to 100% digital adoption, an operational nirvana that saves costs, reduces call volumes, and enables billers to actively assist folks who are financially insecure.

InvoiceCloud’s Commitment to Accessibility

At InvoiceCloud, we are committed to accessibility. As part of that commitment, we are making efforts to ensure that InvoiceCloud’s digital properties are accessible to all individuals, regardless of ability. Towards that end, we are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards. As we continue to build and update our web content, we strive to adhere to the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA 2.1 success criteria, and applicable regulations such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

To accomplish this, we have partnered with Level Access, the category leader in digital accessibility solutions. Level Access’s integrated platform and more than 25 years of experience enable us to achieve and sustain conformance to applicable accessibility standards.

Through this partnership, InvoiceCloud continues to develop our digital accessibility program and capabilities so that we are designing, developing, and testing our websites and online services for conformance to accessibility standards.

Updated Payment Summary Pages

One way we’ve enhanced the accessibility of our product is by updating our payment summary pages.

These pages contain the important information people need to know about the payment they’re making, including the payment method options, the amount due, and the breakdown of payment.

To make this critical page easier to understand and navigate for all payers, our UX and design teams increased the color contrast and font sizes to benefit users with low vision. We also adjusted the text alignment on each item in the summary to improve readability, especially for those with cognitive disabilities. Finally, we added the summary to the mobile view to ensure everyone has a consistent experience regardless of device.

These changes create a better experience for everyone, which is what accessibility is all about.
