Retiring, not Bob Lapides

There comes a time when one feels that he or she has
accomplished the task at hand. That the mountain has been
climbed, the goals have been achieved, and it’s time to close
that chapter and move on with your life. As a co-founder of Invoice Cloud, it was a difficult decision, but I’ve decided to retire at the end of December – yes, December 2020.

My rationale for leaving now is to satisfy a personal goal of retiring before the age of 65 – and more importantly, the strong belief that we have the right people in place to carry the company forward to new heights.

Bob Bennett, another co-founder will continue to be our CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer). I’ll spend the remainder of 2020 working with the Invoice Cloud management team and transitioning my responsibilities to Tom Griffin, who will support Invoice Cloud’s very capable leaders: Rob Autor (Chief Operations Officer), Renee Chenue (VP of Marketing), Matt Braley (Chief Revenue Officer), Steve Schult (VP of Product), Martha Greer (SVP of Operations), Kelton Averyt (Chief Software Architect), Anita Peterson (Director of Client Services), and Ramesh Kandukuri (Chief Technology Officer). Tom Griffin joined the company at the end of last year and has significant experience with scaling organizations, including leading a $500M division at Salesforce.com. For those that haven’t met Rob Autor, a consummate professional who is approaching his second anniversary, Rob has led a team of over 500 development, delivery, and operations people across multiple continents.

We’ve greatly expanded every team across the organization, from security and compliance to development, sales, marketing, customer success, product, operations, finance, and human resources. All with the objective to advance our platform safely and thrill our clients.

To watch Invoice Cloud grow in size has been a true honor. The Invoice Cloud business unit is now over 250 employees strong and we plan to add even more teammates through the end of 2020 and beyond. We’ve added over 40 people since the start of the pandemic.

Over the last 12 years, I’ve been very fortunate to work with great partners, clients, vendors and teammates. You’ve all played a major part in building Invoice Cloud. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built in that time – a thriving organization, positioned for continued success. I would like to thank our clients and partners for your business, support, help and partnership over the years. You’ve been instrumental in helping drive the evolution of the company and platform, and I appreciate your business, feedback, partnership and amazing relationships. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Entering this next chapter is bittersweet, but what we started almost 12 years ago is on an incredible upward trajectory in terms of the product, people, transaction volume, clients, partners, and revenue. My time with Invoice Cloud has been an amazing journey, one that has been a great source of joy in my life and one that will continue long after my departure.
