Paperless Shift Saves $494K and Boosts Eco-Friendly Practices

Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) has been diligently implementing paperless initiatives in collaboration with InvoiceCloud. Their journey began in May 2022 when TMWA automatically enabled the paperless checkbox during the checkout process, a small but significant step that quickly demonstrated the potential for substantial savings.
Recognizing the profound impact on their printing and mailing expenses, TMWA partnered with InvoiceCloud to further accelerate their paperless adoption. Over the next two years, TMWA has run an Autopay to Paperless Campaign as well as a Paperless Opt Out campaign for all payers that have an email address in the InvoiceCloud system. These payers are already getting Emailed Invoice Notifications so the paper invoice has become redundant.
The financial impact of going paperless has been impressive, with the company saving up to $494,000 every year. These savings come from cutting down on paper use, printing costs, postage, and storage expenses. Plus, going digital has reduced administrative overhead and manual processing errors, giving their bottom line a nice boost.
But it’s not just about the money—this move has also highlighted the company’s dedication to environmental stewardship. By leading the way in sustainable practices, the utility company isn’t just strengthening its market position; it’s also setting an inspiring example for other organizations looking to balance profitability with eco-friendly initiatives.
